Case Closed: Leanne Bearden's Death Ruled Suicide
Published on Feb 18, 2014 / Local News
(Garden Ridge, TX) -- Based on the autopsy performed on 33-year old Leanne Bearden, authorities believe the previously missing woman committed suicide by hanging herself.
Bearden was missing for nearly a month until her body was found late last week, about a mile from where she was last seen alive on Jan. 17th, when she went for a walk outside of her in-laws’ home in Garden Ridge.
Massive search efforts, including ground and air operations, turned up no sign of the woman.
But last Friday a property owner discovered her body in a tree towards the back of his property and he called police.
The preliminary autopsy shows that Bearden died of asphyxiation and Garden Ridge Police Chief Donna O'Conner released a statement yesterday saying that, based on the results of the autopsy, they believe Bearden hanged herself, and that their investigation into the case is now closed.
However, a final ruling on the circumstances of Bearden’s death is till pending toxicology reports.
