Homicide Suspected in Comal County House Fire – Possible Suspect Detained in Mississippi

Comal County-

The Comal County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into the death of an individual found Tuesday, following a structure fire.  Officials report Comal County Sheriff’s Office deputies, detectives, and crime scene technicians responded to the scene in the 700 block of Forest Trail-just outside the city limits of New Braunfels-and began an investigation.  Justice of the Peace Mike Rust pronounced the victim deceased and ordered an autopsy. Officials report the Comal County fire Marshal’s Office along with the State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the house fire. As of Thursday morning, the victim has not been identified, and CCSO officials state the investigation is ongoing and no further information can be provided. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Comal County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations at 830-643-6699 or Comal County Crime Stoppers at 830-620-TIPS (8477). Apparently, there is a suspect in the case, and that person has been located in Mississippi.  According to WLOX TV, the Rankin County Sheriff's Office Interstate Interdiction Task Force on Wednesday arrested a suspect in the homicide. WLOX’s Bob Burks reports a deputized officer assigned to the task force, was on routine patrol when he spotted a gray, Dodge SUV with Texas tags. According to Burks, the SUV matched the description of a homicide suspect's vehicle-sent out to law enforcement agencies around the nation- generally called a BOLO. A felony traffic stop was conducted, and the driver, said to be from New Braunfels, was reportedly taken into custody without incident though several weapons were reported inside the SUV.
