The City of New Braunfels will host the 24th Annual Wassailfest this Thursday, from 6 to 9pm. in historic downtown New Braunfels. You’re invited to enjoy a night of music, entertainment, shopping, dining, and of course- Wassail. City officials note that Wassailfest began in 1992 as a way for downtown merchants to thank customers for their patronage and to highlight the beauty and charm of downtown during the holiday season. The evening kicks off with Mayor Barron Casteel providing the first wassail toast at the Main Plaza Bandstand. The event features free Wassail Stops along Seguin Avenue and San Antonio Street, where you can sample and vote for your favorite wassail. Many businesses will have open houses, and non-profit food vendors will be in the streets offering foods such as roasted corn and s-mores as one of their big fund-raisers for the year. Look for a schedule to find out where and when your favorite group will be performing. The Peoples’ Choice and Wassail-Meister awards will be announced Friday, December 2nd at 2p.m. on the bandstand in Main Plaza. Comal County Crime Stoppers took home the People’s Choice Award last year. Be sure to vote for your favorite wassail before you leave.
