Comal County —
The Comal County Recycling Center will begin accepting used live Christmas trees and garland on Tuesday, Dec. 27th, the Commissioners Court authorized Thursday morning. The center will accept free of charge any used live Christmas greenery through Jan. 20th, said James Tart, manager of the Moe Schwab Recycling Center. Residents are asked to remove tinsel, ornaments and other decorations before bringing their greenery for recycling. “This is a service we provide to county residents every year,” Tart said. “We’d much rather mulch this greenery and offer it back to residents than have it sitting in the landfill.”
All other brush will continue to be subject to the usual recycling fees. Artificial trees and greenery are not accepted for recycling.
