NEW BRAUNFELS — The Comal County office of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is hosting a series of DIY Saturdays beginning this Saturday, Jan. 14, providing county residents the chance to learn how to bake bread, make sausage, make pickles, catch rainwater and more.
Classes will be held from 9-11 a.m. the second Saturday of each month at the county’s Extension Office, 325 Resource Drive, New Braunfels. The cost for each class is $15.
“There’s a lot of interest in how to return to our roots and do some activities ourselves rather than pay someone else or go to the store for them,” said Connie Sheppard, family and consumer sciences agent for the Extension Service. “These classes can help you save money, beautify your landscape and reduce your impact on the environment.”
Register for classes by calling 830-620-3440. Each class requires a minimum class size, so attendees are encouraged to call ahead to make sure it still will be held.
The class schedule is:
Jan. 14, Bread Baking
Feb. 11, Fermenting
March 11, Fairy Gardens
May 13, Eggs 101
June 10, Pickle Perfect
July 8, Rain Gardens
Aug. 12, Slow Cookers for Fast Food
Sept. 9, Sausage Making
Oct. 14, Kids Day in the Garden
Nov. 11, Traditions Start at Home
