Commissioner to provide transportation update at forum

NEW BRAUNFELS  — Precinct 3 Commissioner Kevin Webb will provide an update on transportation planning at a public forum sponsored by the local League of Women Voters chapter this month.

The forum, discussing “The Future of Transportation and Air Quality in Comal County,” will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at Tye Preston Memorial Library, 16311 S. Access Road, Canyon Lake.

Webb is a member of the executive committee and transportation policy board of the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, giving Comal County a voice in the future of major transportation projects affecting its residents.

“AAMPO planning and funding has been crucial in moving forward important projects like the Loop 337 expansion in New Braunfels and Highway 46 expansion in the Bulverde area,” Webb said. “I’m looking forward to talking with the public about the important work that’s being done regionally to improve traffic flow in our county.”

Dr. Richard Dixon, a Texas State University professor of geology who researches air-quality issues in Central Texas, will also speak at the forum, discussing his findings and explaining the work of the Air Improvement Resources committee of the Alamo Area Council of Governments.

“Growth is causing all of us to focus on how best to plan for the future of Comal County, including New Braunfels, Garden Ridge, Canyon Lake, Bulverde and Spring Branch,” said Roxanna Deane, president of the League of Women Voters-Comal Area. “We appreciate our speakers’ sharing their respective expertise in regional planning for transportation and regional planning to improve air quality.”
