 Technology leader Pike Powers honored as 2017 Texan of the Year

 

WHAT: The 51st annual Texas Legislative Conference in New Braunfels March 23-24, 2017, features panels of Texas State Representatives and other civic leaders discussing "Veterans Care for Texas, Corporate Welfare or Good Jobs, Local Control or Control the Locals, and the Trump Administration and Texas." 

 

Mayor Steve Adler, City of Austin; Mayor Mary Dennis, City of Live Oak, President - TML; State Senator Kirk Watson - Member, Senate Finance Committee; and State Rep. Paul Workman - Member, House Business and Industry Committee; will participate in the discussion "Local Control or Control the Locals," moderated by Evan Smith, CEO and co-founder of the Texas Tribune. The Texas Legislative Conference also honors the  2017 Texan of the Year, technology leader Pike Powers, Thursday, March 23, at 7:00 p.m. at the New Braunfels Civic Center with former Governor Mark White introducing Powers. Previous recipients of the honor include Sen. John Cornyn, Speaker Joe Straus, the late Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, the late Leon Jaworski and former First Lady Laura Bush.
