City Council members last week asked City Manager Robert Camareno and his staff to take another look at next year’s budget, to make more funds available to fund public safety.

Last night’s City Council meeting began with a presentation that should please residents and business owners within the City limits.

The beginning of school also marks the return of school sports. In Texas, Friday night lights of high school football are serious business, and in our area, the rivalry between Seguin and New Braunfels High School is believed to be the longest-running high school football rivalry in Texas.

City Council will meet today at 4:30, to discuss and consider possible action regarding the Fiscal Year 2016-17 operating and capital budgets and the proposed 2016 tax rate, and announce public hearings.

New Braunfels ISD recently announced its policy for providing free and reduced-price meals for children served under the current income eligibility guidelines.

The New Braunfels ISD is accepting nominations for names of the two new elementary schools being built under the 2015 Bond Program until 5pm. on Aug. 31, 2016.  The name must reflect the name of the residential area that it serves, or a local geographic area or feature, a municipality, or a particular place such as a street or development.

New Braunfels ISD students begin the 2016/17 school year today, with Comal ISD students starting classes on Tuesday.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE in New Braunfels at 2:30am Sunday issued a Flood Advisory specifically for Comal County  effective thru 5:15am.. ​Advisories are issued when flooding is imminent or occurring, generally within the next 1 to 3 hours, but is not expected to substantially threaten life and property.

The City of New Braunfels is gearing up for an update to its Comprehensive Plan. City officials state the plan is a community-driven, long-range, vision document that will guide local decision and policy makers on the future development of the city.
